Cathedral Length Wedding Veil
The longest of all types of wedding veils, the cathedral length wedding veil is truly beautiful, regal, and incredibly elegant. It makes for incredible photographs and looks phenomenal with wedding dresses that have long trains. If you are having a very formal wedding, consider this type of wedding veil, however for something more laid back, rustic, or beach themed, you should definitely look at the other types of wedding veils available.
Chapel Length Wedding Veil
A chapel length wedding veil is often called a sweep veil because it goes to the ground and slightly brushes it. This type of wedding veil is very romantic and looks excellent with wedding dresses that have no trains. Additionally, these chapel length wedding veils are often seen in formal weddings and are usually combined with a blusher or another shorter tier.
Ballet Length Wedding Veil
Still maintaining the beautiful length that makes the other types of wedding veils so romantic, the ballet length wedding veil is a perfect combination of length and convenience. Not nearly long enough to trip over, yet still falling anywhere between the knee and ankle, the ballet length is a popular choice for many brides!
Fingertip Length Wedding Veil
You may recognize this popular type of wedding veil because it was seen on Kate Middleton during her wedding. The fingertip length wedding veil is a very safe yet flattering style that looks amazing on any bride. Many brides choose the fingertip length wedding veil and it has only surged in popularity after the famous wedding of Kate Middleton.
Elbow Length Wedding Veil
As one of our personal favorites, the elbow length wedding veil looks amazing when combined with a blusher or a shorter tier. These types of wedding veils are so elegant and don’t have that excess weight that makes the longer types of wedding veils so awkward as the ceremony progresses. Additionally these can be made from any type of material and combined with a mantilla, or simply be an elegant tulle veil.
Shoulder Length Wedding Veil
Despite being a bit less common than the other types of wedding veils, the shoulder length wedding veil looks great for brides with strapless dresses. They look beautiful when combined with a modern wedding theme and can even have a second layer in the veil for some fullness and a unique yet fashionable look.
Birdcage Wedding Veil
Last of the various types of wedding veils is the birdcage veil. This is the shortest of them all and is absolutely zero hassle. There are various styles of birdcage veils that can go either over the eyes or over the full face. Additionally, these veils have had a huge increase in popularity these past few years and look amazing in a city chic or modern wedding!
Common Wedding Veil Terms
The blusher is the part of the veil that goes in front of your face. It can be the same length as your veil or much shorter, depending on what suits your needs. Additionally, women who have long cathedral length wedding veils generally have a shoulder or fingertip length blusher.
Tiers on a wedding veil add a bit of volume and some excitement to a wedding veil and look amazing with both long and short veils!
A mantilla is simply some lace around the edge of the veil. Mantilla can be added to a veil, or women can simply find a veil with mantilla already on it.
A Juliet cap is simply where the veil is pinned against the top of the head. A lot of the times the Juliet cap will be made of lace for a more elegant and striking look.
